Barefoot Medicine Whitsundays is a privately owned modern Medical Centre opened in September 2023. Barefoot Medicine Whitsundays is fitted with modern, multi beds, a fully equipped treatment room, supported by nursing staff, and nine consultation rooms that are spacious and fully computerised. Our amazing team comprises a Practice Principal, two GPs, a full time Chiropractor, Two Nurse Practitioners, a fly-in-fly-out GP specialising in skin care, a full time nurse, two full time receptionists, an office manager, plus a good Board of Directors who run the financial side of the business and leave the medical team to run the medical side of the business.

Position Description - General Practitioner


Position relationships

The General Practitioner will report to the Practice Principal.

Qualifications and requirements of the position

The General Practitioner is required to be appropriately trained and experienced in general practice. (ESSENTIAL)

Vocational Recognition through Fellowship with either the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), or a recognised equivalent.

General practitioner requirements

• Medical Degree
• Successful completion of a 3 year residency training program
• Registration with an appropriate health professions board
• Proven experience as a General Practitioner
• Adherence to health and ethical codes, including when under duress
• Excellent administrative skills
• Providing skilled health assessments, diagnostic and treatment service to patients
• Maintaining trust (professional trust relationships with patients and colleagues)

Appointment factors

The successful applicant will be required to:

• Undertake a clinical screening interview
• Provide appropriate clinical references for contact as requested by the practice
• Participate in a performance appraisal process as required
• Complete the requirements of the Medical Board of Australia (to maintain Medical Board registration, Medicare provider number etc)
